The inheritance

A craft learned before it was ever a business.

Our family has made rugs since 1925. For the elder generation, the loom was not a business but a birthright — a craft learned in childhood, refined over decades, and handed down with the same care as the patterns themselves. For most of that century, our rugs were made quietly, for the world’s design houses, their origins rarely named.

The looms are in Bhadohi. In 1925 our first buyer, an Englishman named Mr. Singleton Binda, came looking for the workshop on a bicycle, and a crowd gathered, not to stare at the visitor, but at the “new machine” balanced on two wheels. Today the sixth generation carries the work forward, and we still look at every rug ourselves before it leaves.

We founded Loom & Living to change one thing: to let the people who live with our rugs know exactly whose hands made them. After years of making for others, we are opening our heritage directly to the home — the same looms, the same families, the same standard, now offered to you.

For us, a Loom & Living rug is not a product but a continuation of something our family has done for a hundred years. We want it to feel as though it was always meant to be in your home.

Made for you, not taken off a shelf.

Made-to-order rugs take up to 90 days. It is the time a hand-woven rug asks for, and we don’t hurry it. We look at every rug ourselves before it leaves.
